Challenges
Patelco Credit Union had built strong data governance with clearpolicies and controls. The team next wanted visibility. The controls were stillmanual and lacked an automated view of where sensitive data lived or howconcentrated the risk was. Before Cyera, it was all dark data acrossunstructured sources like documents, while structured data in systems such asSnowflake already had stronger controls.
Solution
Patelco made Cyera the foundational layer for finding andclassifying sensitive data across its Azure and on-prem environments,integrated natively into the existing architecture. Cyera surfaces thesensitive data and risk. Patelco's tools act on it, applying controls throughMicrosoft Purview and driving incident response through Jira playbooks.
Results
With sensitive data finallyvisible, Patelco moved from governance on paper to governance in practice. Theteam is more focused on reducing risk, "ready for many regulatedaudits," and able to report to leadership where concentrated risks sit andhow its maturity is progressing. Governance became something the team couldexecute, not just define.
