FedRAMP High In Process: Securing Mission-Critical Data with Cyera for Government

Today’s FedRAMP High “In Process” designation for Cyera marks an important step toward securing how sensitive data is used, accessed, and shared across the government and its supply chain.

This isn’t a new risk. Past incidents across the defense industrial base - including a conspiracy to steal U.S. military secrets - prove that when no one is in control of the data, it doesn’t stay contained. Those incidents exposed how difficult it is to manage sensitive data across a large, distributed ecosystem, ultimately leading to the creation of CMMC and a decade-long effort to better secure critical data while continuing to expand the industrial base.

The Challenge of Securing Sensitive Data Across the Federal Ecosystem

The challenge hasn’t gone away. Data is still spread across agencies, contractors, and systems, with limited visibility into how it’s accessed or used. At this scale, traditional approaches don’t hold up and securing it requires automation and AI. That’s the problem Cyera for Government is built to solve.

As in any global enterprise, sensitive data is constantly being accessed, copied, and moved across federal agencies—government employees are using AI tools, contractors are sharing data across environments, and AI models are training on information that was never meant to leave its source.

The problem is that most agencies don’t have a clear view of what’s happening.

Cyera for Government changes that. It gives teams a single tool for finding and classifying sensitive data across environments, and controlling how it’s accessed and used, whether by people or AI. That foundation is what makes zero trust real and secure AI adoption possible - from tools like Microsoft Copilot to mission-specific agents being built today.

That’s why we started with FedRAMP High.

Teams responsible for mission-critical data don’t have the option to compromise. They need solutions that work at scale, deploy quickly, and give them control from day one.

We already see this play out across highly regulated industries from financial services,  healthcare, and critical infrastructure. The same challenge shows up everywhere: data is in motion, and no one is fully in control of it. And once AI gets hold of it, data sprawl can accelerate exponentially.

FedRAMP High is the bar for bringing that control into the most sensitive environments, across government agencies and the broader ecosystem that supports them. I couldn’t be more proud of our support for this critical mission. Stay tuned for what’s next as we work towards our full Authorization.

FedRAMP & AI Security FAQs

Q.) What does FedRAMP High “In Process” mean?

A.) It means a solution is actively being evaluated against the highest federal security standards for protecting sensitive data in government environments.

Q.) Why is securing government data more challenging today?

A.) Data is spread across agencies, contractors, cloud systems, and AI tools, making it harder to track, control, and protect at scale.

Q.) How does Cyera help secure sensitive data?

Cyera discovers, classifies, and controls sensitive data across environments, giving teams visibility into how it is accessed and used.

Q.) How does this support secure AI adoption?

A.) Cyera ensures only the right data is used in AI systems, helping agencies adopt AI while maintaining security and compliance.
